Houston is a great city, but you would never know it from reading our newspapers.
Facebook's new real-time homepage rolled out last week, so tell us: What do you like or dislike about the new Twitter-esque design?
Honestly, I hate it with a passion. I already have a twitter account, don't need another one. The old layout was much better, and more customizable. The new layout is a pain in the ass to navigate, and there's too much "stalkervision" going on in it. If I wanted to see every conversation that my friends were having with their friends I would go to all of their pages to see it. Now it's all right there out in the open for the whole world to see. It sucks.
It really kind of reminds me of when Vox changed their layout and everyone freaked out. Thankfully they made some changes to it to make it more bearable. Let's hope Facebook will listen to the masses and change it back or at least give us the choice to pick between layouts.
Ashlee Simpson is set to appear in a Melrose Place spinoff. Tell us: Will you be watching this CW show and which Melrose character would you most like to see come back?
Does ANYONE watch ANYTHING that comes on the CW network? From what I can tell their lineup includes:
America's Next Top Model- I used to watch this show before Tyra Banks lost her damn mind and started making the girls uglier in their makeovers.
Smallville- Never watched it.
Gossip Girl- Never Watched It.
One Tree Hill- Never Watched It.
Supernatural- Never Watched It.
90210- Used to watch the OLD 90210 back when it was all new episodes and it was cool. I think I was like 14. I've grown up now and moved on to bigger and better things.
The only thing I saw on their entire lineup I would maybe watch is The Drew Carey show. I'm fairly certain it's all reruns and I've seen them all already.
What's a little thing you do every day that brightens the lives of those around you?

I wake up...Alive and breathing...and take care of 4 other people. I feel quite certain that if anything happened to my my entire household would collapse. I'm totally not kidding about that.
What's your best tip or trick for keeping your closet organized?
I have a few rules as far as my closet goes. Being a total shoe and handbag hound I had to get control over the massive piles of purses and shoes so here's how I did it.
1. If it's a handbag I haven't touched in 6 months it goes to charity.
2. Every time I get a NEW handbag I have to choose two handbags to either give to charity or get rid of.
(same goes for shoes)3. I pretty much apply the same rules to clothing. Shirts, bottoms and such are gone through every 6 months or so and I purge stuff that doesn't fit anymore. I do have two duffel bags in the top of my closet for clothes that I kept from when I was "skinny". I'm so glad I did keep them because by the time summer gets here they will all fit and there's some really cute stuff in there. (and with the economy and money situation the way it is I wouldn't be able to afford to buy new smaller clothes anyways.)
Now If only I could get Bart to apply the same rules to his closet....
If you could be an expert in any one field, which one would you choose?
I would totally love to be an expert in Nutrition and Personal Training/Physical Fitness. A few years back I was thisclose to having my Certified Nutritional Consultant/Master Herbalist license. Unfortunately life got in the way and I abandoned my coursework and my time has run out to complete the course for credit. I've been looking into signing up for it again and completing it this time, as well as getting Certified by one of the Personal Training Certification agencies. The weight loss business is BIG money. There are lots of people out there looking for ways to loose weight. Being as how I'm someone who has tried ALL of them I feel it's only natural for me to help others in this arena.
I have a feeling it won't be all rosy though. I'm a no bullshit kinda girl. I will not tell you you can still have your donuts and lose weight. You cannot still have your beer and lose weight. And I won't have clients that want to do it any othe way but the RIGHT way. There's only ONE way to lose weight and burn fat. Push your ass away from the table and the bottle, and move your ass more. Eat CLEAN, Work out, Lift Weights. That's it. I don't have time for people who want to waste my time, and anyone who wants me to show them some little cute pink dumbells and still eat pizza is wasting my time. If you aren't willing to sweat, run until you throw up a lung or vomit, and lift weights until you can't stand up anymore don't talk to me. ( I think this is why I love Jillian Michaels so much. I would LOVE to torture people the way she does.)
There is no magic pill, device, or contraption that will melt fat off of your abs. There is no program that will allow you to eat whatever you want and still lose weight. It takes HARD work. I've been at it for nearly 6 months doing it the right way. It's working. SLOWLY. But it's working. I have lost 40 pounds since June 30th of last year. Doesn't sound like much, but if you saw a picture of me then and now you would see the difference. I'm hoping that by May of this year I will officially be in the teens on body fat percentage. I'm at Average percentage right now of 25% but really want to go down to between 12-15% so the striations really POP. It has taken a LOT of HARD work.
I guess what I'm trying to get at here is that I would not LIE to people and tell them I could make over their body in just 6 weeks. Sure you can make great progress in 6 weeks, but the road to a optimal body is LONG. I would be honest with them and say to them that if they were willing to eat what they SHOULD eat, and work out with high intensity, and work HARD then I would help them. I would NOT however waste my time on people who aren't willing to do the work, or who are looking for a quick fix.
Greatness is not a destination, but a journey. What do you do for your family, career or community that you’re most proud of?

Well, let's start with family, because that's where the heart is:
I do not work outside the home, so that means I have all the time in the world to be there for my kids. I get up bright and early, get them dressed for school, feed them, check their backpacks, and take them to school. They do not ride a bus so that means I actually TAKE them all to school. Austin has to be at school at 7am and the twins go at 8am. This means that before 9am I have already left the house twice to take kids to school. After they are off to school I come home and make beds, pick up dirty clothes and start laundry and clean up breakfast dishes. Then I work out, and shower. Then I take care of any errands and shopping while they are at school and Bart is at work. Then I pick the boys up from school(Austin at 2:30 and the twins at 4:00) and come home and start on homework and make a healthy hot meal for dinner. Sometimes I even make dessert. I help them with homework, and get everything ready for the next day before they go to bed.
Then it's bath and shower time, kisses and tucking in.
On top of all of that I handle all of the finances, doctor appointment scheduling(which in our house there are LOTS of those), meal planning, shopping, cleaning, cooking, and even sometimes outdoor maintenance. Just yesterday I had to go and buy a new battery for our gate opener and install it myself. It wasn't a big deal really except that I had asked Bart for MONTHS to take care of it and it still wasn't done. So I had to do it. Story of my life. Don't ask me how many years we went without weather stripping around our front door before he finally fixed it on a blustery 34 degree day. (3 years) (Don't get me wrong I LOVE Bart..he is my heart and soul, but our priorities are not always in line with each other. That's all I'm saying.)
As far as community involvement goes I am on the Executive Board of the PTO for our kids school. I spend several hours a week at the school volunteering and coordinating different activities. On Grandparent's day I set up a photography area and took portraits of all of the kids with their grandparents as a fundraiser for the PTO. I'll be doing the same thing again during Book Fair week with parents and grandparents who come to book fair to purchase items for their family members. I am on the planning committee for the PTO's upcoming Spring Fling Festival which we hope will draw people from as far away as outside our own county. I am currently designing a web site for our PTO that parents will be able to visit to get up to the minute calendar information as well as download permission forms, and other forms to fill out and send in to the school.
So...THAT'S my journey to greatness....I'm just a Supermom. Nothing more, nothing less.
What are your favorite Thanksgiving traditions? Anything you're not so fond of?
I pretty much already addressed this question HERE. And yes I put ALL Of my recipes in the post. Enjoy!!
Parties, dinners, pageants and more. How does technology help you survive the hustle and bustle of the holidays?

Everyone I buy a gift for that is over the age of 13 gets a Mastercard Gift Card from my Bank that I order Online and have automatically taken out of my account and mailed to me. (and there's no stupid activation fees like the ones you buy in the stores. A 50.00 Gift card costs me 50.00 and it NEVER expires.)
I shop online for the kids year round and have a closet in Bart's shop devoted to kids gifts.
I can't tell you the last time I actually went into a mall or store to do Christmas Shopping. The only thing I have to brave the stores for is gift wrap and Tape. Makes for a much happier mama.
I send E-Christmas Cards. No postage, no hassle at the post office. Always gets there on time.
How do you feel about the results of the election?
I have to say that I am THRILLED beyond words...
Last night I was sitting on the sofa watching the results come in when they closed the polls in California....
All of a sudden they announced it...and the tears just came down. Poor Austin didn't know what to think. Being an 11 year old boy and witnessing this whole process I'm sure has been an experience for him.
He said.." I thought you were happy mommy...why are you crying?"
I said.." I'm crying because I'm happy, thrilled, overjoyed. We just witnessed HISTORY being made."
And then he just held my hand and said.."I'm happy too mommy."
Which of course only made me cry harder, and even to this moment when I think about it I get a little teary eyed and have to pinch myself..
It was the BEST birthday present EVER. Seriously.
The Victory party that will ensue this Saturday night is going to be so much more phenomenal.
Today I am so PROUD to be an American.
This morning I had to get up and watch it all over again on the TIVO to be sure I hadn't dreamed it...and I cried all over again.
My MOTHER even said that even though she didn't vote for Obama, she thought that his speech was very moving and that she was going to remain open minded about the future. This coming from a woman who STILL thinks that Bush has done a great job with our country.
I don't really have eloquent enough words to express the joy that is in my heart and the smile on my face today...but I'm sure at least some of you know what I'm trying to get across...
Bart said he thinks we've had an Obamagasm. LOL. I couldn't have said it better myself.
